WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) joined NewsNation’s Alicia Neves to discuss the recent ICE killings and Trump’s abrupt reversal of ICE’s pause in conducting traffic stops. In the last week, ICE has killed people in Maine and in Texas during traffic stop operations, both of whom were not the intended targets of the respective operations. Following the killings, ICE had briefly suspended traffic stops, only for Trump to reverse that order just a day later. Senator Rosen has demanded more guardrails and accountability for ICE officers to prevent the dangerous and reckless actions currently being ignored by the Trump Administration.

Host: “The president has reinstated traffic stops just a day after [ICE] paused them following the strikes. President Trump says it’s an effective tool that should not be stopped and says that it’s what Democrats want, but not on his watch. What’s your response to that amid this moment where you’re seeing two fatal shootings by ICE in less than six or seven days?”
Senator Rosen: “Well, first of all, this is appalling and ICE needs to stop. Secretary Mullin, this needs to stop and take a pause. What we’ve been calling for all along is for ICE to have this: to have training, tools and technology. Training to do their job, and transparency and accountability when they don’t do it right. They need to follow the same rules that my Metropolitan Police Department follows, and police departments across this country.”
