Rosen, Cortez Masto Applaud Confirmation of Nominees for Nevada’s U.S. District Court

WASHINGTON DC – Today, U.S. Senators Jacky Rosen (D-NV) and Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) issued the following statements on the confirmation of Judge Cristina Silva and Professor Anne Traum to the bench of the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada.

“I am thrilled the Senate voted to confirm two extremely qualified judges for the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada: Judge Cristina Silva and Professor Anne Traum,” dijo el Senador Rosen. “These two seats have been open for years, which has caused enormous strain on Nevada’s federal district court. Having these judges in place will benefit Nevadans pursuing their claims in court. I was proud to help the White House select Judges Silva and Traum, with the assistance of the bipartisan judicial selection commissions that Senator Cortez Masto and I established, and I know they will serve Nevada well.”

“Judge Silva and Professor Traum are both incredibly qualified women with track records of fairness, integrity, and knowledge of the law. I’m glad that both nominees have been confirmed to the federal bench in Nevada, and I know they will serve our state well,” said Senator Cortez Masto.

Senators Cortez Masto and Rosen carefully reviewed the records of the President’s nominees, Judge Cristina Silva and Professor Anne Traum, in cooperation with the bipartisan judicial commissions they established. Senators Rosa and Cortez Masto both gave speeches on the Senate floor urging their colleagues to vote to confirm Judge Silva and Professor Traum.
