Our office can help individuals seeking assistance from the federal government on a variety of matters, including veterans benefits, Social Security, small business resources, and immigration and passport issues. When Roy Burson, a Vietnam veteran, and his wife Hilary were told they wouldn\u2019t receive mail at their Reno home anymore, which they rely on to get life-saving medication and important medical notifications from the VA, Senator Rosen\u2019s office sprang into action.<\/span><\/p>

After successfully cutting through bureaucratic red tape, we were able to ensure the Bursons received mail to their home once again, including those much needed prescriptions.<\/span><\/p>

Jason was injured by an IED while serving our country in Iraq. Because of an error in his service record, he was denied a Purple Heart. After 12 years trying to correct his record, Jason reached out to our office. We were able to contact the Army and get his case reviewed.<\/span><\/p>

Our team presented them with Jason\u2019s evidence that, in fact, he has been eligible for the Purple Heart. All of his records have since been updated to reflect him being awarded the medal.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Norman is a veteran who served in the U.S. Air Force in the 1950s and was exposed to radiation from an atomic blast, but wasn\u2019t receiving the VA benefits owed to him.<\/span><\/p>

After Norman\u2019s case was originally denied, our office helped in expediting his appeal process to make sure his claim was handled in a timely manner. Thankfully, his appeal was successful and Norman was able to receive the compensation he deserves.<\/span><\/p>

\u201cSenator Rosen and her staff helped me to get my medical compensation from my time serving in the U.S. Air Force after I contacted them and asked for their help. I had my application being looked at for more than one and a half years and was getting nowhere. Within a few weeks I was approved once they took on my case. Without the help of the Senator and her staff, I don\u2019t believe I would’ve been approved. Priscilla contacted our office for assistance regarding the status of her 2019 IRS tax return and subsequent refund of $8,700. After initially waiting for her taxes and refund to be processed, she began checking for status updates online. When no updates were available, she attempted to contact the IRS for multiple months and was unsuccessful.<\/span><\/p>

Subsequently, she contacted our office for assistance. Our team contacted the Taxpayer Advocacy Services on her behalf and, with the information provided by Priscilla, they were able to facilitate the processing of her tax return and issue her refund.\u00a0 She received her full tax refund with interest for a total of $8,862.41.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Ulzankumar (Ulzan), the owner of a Las Vegas restaurant, reached out to our office because they had been denied for a Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) loan and needed money to keep the business afloat through COVID. Their daughter had very serious medical issues and was in and out of the hospital, so they were trying to pay for her medical expenses while keeping the family restaurant going. Our office requested status checks from the Small Business Administration (SBA) on their reconsideration and found that there was a request for additional documentation that hadn\u2019t made it to the constituent.<\/span><\/p>

After asking the SBA to resend their request, the constituent provided the necessary information and was assigned a loan officer. Ulzan called us with regular updates to let us know that their reconsideration request was being processed and, ultimately, they were notified that they were approved.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

After a mixup with the paperwork done by his bank, Bruce received notice from the IRS that he owed them nearly $200,000, and that they were going to start levying his and his wife’s Social Security payments. Bruce reached out to our office for help. After our office got involved, the issue was corrected, saving him almost $200,000 and protecting his and his wife\u2019s Social Security. Bruce was also reimbursed for the money they had already taken via garnishment.<\/span><\/p>

\u201cI can\u2019t think of anything more intimidating than the IRS threatening to take everything you have, especially when you know you don\u2019t owe them a dime. When I could not get any response from the IRS, Senator Rosen\u2019s office stepped in to help resolve the issue. Andrew was an active duty servicemember having issues receiving refunds from canceled flights due to COVID. Our office reached out to the Department of Transportation\u2019s Aviation Consumer Protection Division and filed casework on his behalf, since he was unable to work directly with the airline, and the issue was finally resolved.<\/span><\/p>
