Thanks to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2023\/08\/16\/rosen-statement-on-first-anniversary-of-the-inflation-reduction-act-being-signed-into-law\/\"><em>Inflation Reduction Act<\/em><\/a> that Senator Rosen helped pass, Medicare has the authority for the first time in history to negotiate prescription drug prices directly with pharmaceutical companies. The first ten medications selected for price negotiations are some of the most expensive and widely used by seniors. They include:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table is-style-stripes\"><table class=\"has-white-background-color has-background\"><tbody><tr><td>Eliquis&nbsp;<br>Jardiance<br>Xarelto<br>Januvia<br>Farxiga&nbsp;<\/td><td>Entresto&nbsp;<br>Enbrel<br>Imbruvica<br>Stelara<br>NovoLog&nbsp;<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/aspe.hhs.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/documents\/705b9c384d493e442a1d4004905cf8ae\/ASPE-IRA-Drug-Negotiation-Fact-Sheet.pdf\">estimates<\/a>, tens of thousands of Nevadans on Medicare Part D rely on one or more of these medications.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs I\u2019ve traveled across Nevada, I\u2019ve met seniors who shared their stories about not being able to afford their medications and being forced to make tough decisions as a result,\u201d<strong> dijo el Senador Rosen.<\/strong> \u201cIt was with their stories in mind that I proudly helped pass legislation to allow Medicare to negotiate for lower prescription drug prices. At a time when Nevadans are facing high prices and inflation, today\u2019s announcement is an important step towards lowering costs and making prescription drugs more affordable.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senator Rosen has been a leader in fighting to lower costs for hardworking Nevadans. She helped secure several wins in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2022\/08\/07\/rosen-votes-to-pass-inflation-reduction-act\/\"><em>Inflation Reduction Act<\/em><\/a> to help lower costs and put dollars back in the pockets of hard-working Nevadans including provisions to: lower health care premiums, lower prescription drug costs, ensure taxpayers and rural communities get fair returns on leases of public lands for oil and gas, and expand clean energy tax credits. She also supported the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2022\/04\/21\/rosen-joins-washoe-county-seniors-to-announce-support-for-legislation-empowering-medicare-to-negotiate-for-lower-prescription-drug-prices\/\"><em>Empowering Medicare Seniors to Negotiate Drug Prices Act<\/em><\/a>, which would allow Medicare to negotiate the best price of prescription drugs for seniors.
