WASHINGTON, D.C.<\/strong> \u2013 Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV), a member of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP), released the following statement announcing that Nevada Health Centers and the Nevada Primary Care Association are new endorsers of her bipartisan Improving Access to Health Care in Rural and Underserved Areas Act (S.3194), legislation that would provide additional support for primary care providers in rural and underserved areas through accredited continuing medical education and clinical support.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m grateful for the support from Nevada health organizations for my bipartisan legislation that will work to directly tackle our state\u2019s health care provider and medical care shortage,\u201d dijo el Senador Rosen.<\/strong> \u201cThis bipartisan legislation will assist primary care providers in offering medical care in rural and underserved communities. I will continue working on commonsense, bipartisan legislation to ensure all Nevadans have access to quality care, regardless of where they live.\u201d

\nBACKGROUND:<\/strong><\/u> Earlier this month<\/a>, Senator Rosen and Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), both members of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, introduced the bipartisan Improving Access to Health Care in Rural and Underserved Areas Act (S.3194). This legislation would create a five-year pilot program that provides a funding opportunity for up to 100 Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) and Rural Health Clinics to boost capacity in specific areas of medical need within their communities, enhancing skills in these areas and expanding access to care.

\nThe bipartisan Improving Access to Health Care in Rural and Underserved Areas Act (S.3194) is also supported by the National Rural Health Association, Families USA, the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education, and the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine.    <\/p>\n
