Thanks to the Rosen-backed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2022\/08\/07\/rosen-votes-to-pass-inflation-reduction-act\/\"><em>Inflation Reduction Act<\/em><\/a>, Nevada seniors are already experiencing lower prices for prescription drugs such as insulin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senator Rosen has been a leader in fighting to lower costs for hard-working Nevadans. She recently joined Senate colleagues in filing an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2023\/09\/20\/rosen-joins-brief-urging-federal-court-to-uphold-medicares-ability-to-negotiate-lower-prescription-drug-costs\/\">amicus brief<\/a> urging a federal court to uphold the constitutionality of Congress allowing Medicare to negotiate lower drug prices for consumers. Senator Rosen also helped pass the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2022\/08\/07\/rosen-votes-to-pass-inflation-reduction-act\/\"><em>Inflation Reduction Act<\/em><\/a> to help lower costs and put dollars back in the pockets of hard-working Nevadans, which included provisions to lower health care premiums, and lower prescription drug costs by allowing Medicare to negotiate the price of prescription drugs for seniors. In between, the transplant from the Boston area who has called Southern Nevada home for the past 23 years charts his blood glucose levels to ensure he\u2019s properly handling the ailment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Berman saw immediate relief come earlier this year after a section of the Inflation Reduction Act went into effect, allowing Medicare to negotiate the price of several popular prescription medications and capping the price of a month\u2019s supply of insulin at $35.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201cI was an immediate beneficiary of the drop in insulin rates,\u201d Berman said at a roundtable discussion about prescription drug affordability at Roseman University in Henderson. \u201cWe were paying the $70 a month (per dose) and starting at the beginning of the year, $35 a month. That adds up.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The roundtable was led by Sen. Jacky Rosen, D-Nev., who was joined by Meena Seshamani, director of the Center for Medicare, whose administration operates the public health insurer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rosen said Tuesday she signed on as a cosponsor last week to the Insulin Act of 2023, which would eliminate deductibles and other \u201ccost-sharing requirements\u201d related to insulin and cap its price at $35 for a 30-day supply for private-sector health insurance beneficiaries.
