This funding comes through the Department of Justice\u2019s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) for hiring law enforcement officers, increasing school security, and supporting community policing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Below is a breakdown of the funding:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>$375,000 for the Nevada System of Higher Education to hire additional officers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>$500,000 for Elko County School District to improve school security.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>$175,000 for City of Reno for officer recruitment, retention, and workforce diversification.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOne of my top priorities in the Senate is ensuring law enforcement in Nevada have all the resources they need to keep our communities safe,\u201d <strong>dijo el Senador Rosen.<\/strong> \u201cI\u2019m proud to see this funding come to our state and support agencies in hiring additional officers to strengthen school and community safety.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m pleased to see these federal dollars I secured coming to Nevada to improve public safety,\u201d <strong>said Senator Cortez Masto<\/strong>. \u201cI\u2019ll continue working with my colleagues to provide Nevada\u2019s law enforcement with the tools they need to keep our streets and schools safe.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senators Rosen and Cortez Masto have consistently supported Nevada law enforcement and police departments. Last month, they announced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2023\/08\/10\/rosen-cortez-masto-announce-delivery-of-more-than-7-2-million-they-secured-for-nevada-law-enforcement-other-first-responders\/\">over $7.2 million<\/a> they secured for Nevada\u2019s law enforcement and first responders. Earlier this year, they helped pass the bipartisan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2023\/07\/27\/rosen-backed-bipartisan-bill-to-hire-and-retain-more-police-officers-passes-senate\/#:~:text=The%20Rosen%2Dbacked%20bill%20would,to%20enter%20careers%20in%20law\"><em>Recruit and Retain Act<\/em><\/a>, which establishes a federal pipeline program supporting more collaboration between local law enforcement and schools to hire and retain more police officers. Senator Rosen also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2023\/03\/09\/rosen-announces-federal-funding-opportunities-to-support-local-law-enforcement-agencies\/\">announced federal funding opportunities<\/a> for local police departments to hire more officers and incentivize community policing efforts.
