During the hearing, Senator Rosen asked Dr. Fauci about the potential for preventive medication to treat COVID-19 before a vaccine is widely available.<\/span><\/span><u1_p><\/u1_p><o_p><\/o_p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0);font-variant-caps: normal;text-align:start;-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px;word-spacing:0px\"><span style=\"font-size:14.0pt;font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif;color:black\">\u201cAs I talk to Nevadans about safely reopening our economy, one question that frequently comes up is \u2013<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;\u201c<\/span>When are we going to have a vaccine?\u2019<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>\u201d<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><b>began Senator Rosen.<\/b><span class=\"apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>\u201cIn Nevada, travel and tourism are the lifeblood of our economy, and the jobs associated with those industries can only fully come back if we know that it\u2019s safe to travel and to visit our work at our hotels, casinos, restaurants, and attractions.\u201d<\/span><u1_p><\/u1_p><o_p><\/o_p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size:14.0pt;font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\">\u201cUltimately, to make this happen we have to build confidence in our visitors that it\u2019s safe. We need a vaccine, and that research is extremely important,\u201d<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><b>Senator Rosen continued.<\/b><span class=\"apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>\u201cHowever, understanding that this takes time to develop and ensure both safety and efficacy, I would like to hear more about what research is happening regarding preventive medication research that could be helpful in the timeframe before a vaccine, and especially before one is widely available.\u201d<\/span><u1_p><\/u1_p><o_p><\/o_p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"background:white;background-position:initial initial;background-repeat:initial initial\"><span style=\"font-size:14.0pt;font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\">\u201cDr. Fauci, what research is currently happening to identify potential monoclonal antibody preventive treatments or other therapeutics?
