The letter requests that the legislation designate at least $100 million for enhanced geothermal energy demonstrations, which would encourage next-generation innovation and expand the areas in which geothermal technology can be produced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs the United States\u2019 energy use continues to grow and our power grid is modernized and transformed to improve reliability and resilience, expanded use of geothermal energy will be essential to support these changes and meet our national emission reduction goals,\u201d <strong>wrote the Senators. <\/strong>\u201cWe believe it is important for Congress to continue to support and incentivize geothermal energy research and development to not only provide a reliable source of power generation but also shore up our domestic supply of lithium and other critical minerals as we continue to push toward reaching the United States\u2019 emission reduction goals.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The full letter can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/Final-FY24-Geothermal-Letter.pdf\">HERE<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Geothermal is an abundant domestic source of reliable, renewable energy that can be extracted and replenished by heat sources deep beneath the surface of the earth without burning fossil fuels. Nevada has significant geothermal energy resources and many active geothermal projects, which create more clean energy jobs in the state.
