Among the current USPS proposal is the relocation of mail processing operations from Nevada to California, which could lead to delayed mail delivery and job losses in Nevada. In the U.S. House of Representatives, Congressman Mark Amodei (R-NV-02) is leading similar efforts as part of a bicameral push.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs part of its \u2018Delivering for America\u2019 plan, USPS has been conducting Mail Processing Facility Reviews to assess the postal network. While USPS claims that these reviews will not result in facility closures or career employee layoffs, the results of USPS\u2019s reviews push for ill advised facility downsizings, and for moving some mail processing operations to out of state locations,\u201d <strong>wrote the senators. <\/strong>\u201cTo prevent downsizing of mail facilities and moving some of the mail processing operations out of state without due consideration for the local impact to communities that rely on the essential services of USPS, we strongly encourage including language in the next FY24 appropriations package prohibiting further action until the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC) issues an advisory opinion on the proposed facility changes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The full text of the letter can be found<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Letter-to-Congressional-Leadership-re-Postal-Service-3.15.24.pdf\"><strong>HERE<\/strong><\/a><strong>.<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senator Rosen has been leading the efforts to oppose the relocation of Reno mail processing to California. This week, she and Senator Cortez Masto <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2024\/03\/13\/rosen-cortez-masto-join-push-urging-postmaster-general-dejoy-to-prevent-relocation-of-mail-processing\/\">joined a group<\/a> of over 20 Senators in a letter urging Postmaster General Louis DeJoy to stop any changes or relocations to USPS processing facilities that would result in job losses and further degrade mail delivery performance, especially in rural states.
