The bipartisan <em>Jumpstart Our Business by Supporting Students<\/em> (<em>JOBS) Act<\/em> would expand Pell Grant eligibility to students who are enrolled in job training programs that lead to industry-recognized credentials and certificates. The bipartisan <em>Freedom to Invest in Tomorrow\u2019s Workforce Act<\/em> would expand eligible uses of tax-exempt savings plans to cover costs associated with workforce training and credentialing, such as professional certifications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCareer training and technical education opens the door to high-demand, good-paying jobs,\u201d <strong>dijo el Senador Rosen.<\/strong> \u201cThat\u2019s why I\u2019m joining these bipartisan bills to make it easier for Nevadans to access workforce development programs. I\u2019ll continue working across the aisle&nbsp; to ensure Nevada workers have the critical training they need.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cExpanding Pell grant eligibility for students in job training programs that lead to industry-recognized credentials would be a game-changer for communities across the country \u2014 including Southern Nevada,\u201d <strong>said College of Southern Nevada President Dr. Federico Zaragoza. <\/strong>\u201cWe\u2019re training hundreds of students in growing fields such as healthcare, IT, and manufacturing, but it\u2019s not enough to keep up with industry demand. With more funding, we could easily double the number of workers we train for real, well-paying jobs in the region\u2019s growing industries.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senator Rosen has been leading the effort to support Nevada\u2019s workforce amid the state\u2019s economic growth. Earlier this month, she announced that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2024\/03\/14\/rosen-cortez-masto-announce-delivery-of-federal-funding-they-secured-for-workforce-development-in-southern-nevada\/\">$800,000<\/a> she secured has been delivered to the Southern Nevada Workforce Connections\u2019 Development Program. Last year, Senator Rosen sent a bipartisan letter to the U.S. National Science Foundation Director Sethuraman Panchanathan requesting an update on the implementation of the provision she secured in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2022\/08\/09\/rosen-backed-chips-and-science-act-signed-into-law\/\"><em>CHIPS and Science Act<\/em><\/a> to support the critical mineral mining industry and bolster the mining workforce.
