Senator Rosen and Congressman Amodei have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2024\/02\/29\/rosen-leads-bipartisan-opposition-to-relocation-of-reno-postal-processing-and-distribution-center-to-california\/\">consistently opposed<\/a> the proposed relocation because of the impact it would have on mail service reliability and local jobs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHaving local mail processing operations remain here in Reno is critical for the families that rely on the U.S. Postal Service for timely mail service, the seniors who receive life-saving medications through the mail, and the local jobs the Post Office supports,\u201d <strong>dijo el Senador Rosen.<\/strong> \u201cToday, I visited the Reno Processing and Distribution Center with Congressman Amodei to see firsthand how the proposal to send these operations out of state would hurt communities in northern Nevada. This proposed relocation is yet another example of a misguided Washington bureaucratic decision, and I\u2019ll continue working across party lines to push back against this ill-advised plan.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Postal Service\u2019s proposed plan to move mail processing operations from Reno to Sacramento was made with little care for or understanding of the unintended consequences for Northern Nevada,\u201d <strong>said Congressman Amodei. <\/strong>\u201cJust days after the rushed comment period for this proposal ended, Donner Pass on I-80 between Reno and Sacramento was closed in both directions for days on end. It was a stark example of the negative impacts this proposed relocation would have on our communities. I will continue to do all that I can to oppose this misguided plan.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senator Rosen has been leading the efforts to oppose the relocation of Reno\u2019s mail processing center to California. She recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2024\/02\/29\/rosen-leads-bipartisan-opposition-to-relocation-of-reno-postal-processing-and-distribution-center-to-california\/\">sent a bipartisan letter<\/a> with Senator Cortez Masto (D-NV) and Congressman Amodei, expressing serious concern about the proposed relocation of mail processing in Reno. Senator Rosen also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2024\/03\/13\/rosen-cortez-masto-join-push-urging-postmaster-general-dejoy-to-prevent-relocation-of-mail-processing\/\">joined a group<\/a> of over 20 Senators in a letter urging Postmaster General Louis DeJoy to stop any changes or relocations to USPS processing facilities that would result in job losses and further degrade mail delivery performance, especially in rural states. The Senator also sent a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2024\/03\/15\/rosen-cortez-masto-push-to-include-language-in-funding-package-preventing-relocation-of-reno-mail-processing\/\">letter to Senate and House leadership<\/a> urging them to include language in the second FY24 appropriations package to prevent the United States Postal Service (USPS) from downsizing their facilities and transferring operations out-of-state without due consideration for the impacts on delivery times, jobs, and local economies.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
