Every county in Nevada is experiencing a shortage of medical professionals, and a <a href=\"https:\/\/nursejournal.org\/articles\/the-us-nursing-shortage-state-by-state-breakdown\/\">recent analysis<\/a> found that Nevada is one of the states with the least amount of nurses per capita. To help address this shortage, the U.S. Senate recently passed Senator Rosen\u2019s bipartisan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2023\/09\/20\/rosen-collins-braun-introduce-bipartisan-bill-to-address-nursing-shortage\/\"><em>Train More Nurses Act<\/em><\/a>. As a part of this year\u2019s bipartisan government funding package, she helped secure $400,000 for updated training equipment at UNLV to better prepare the next generation of nurses and help improve patient outcomes. During the tour, Senator Rosen met with the Nursing School\u2019s Interim Dean, Dr. Imelda Reyes, as well as other nursing faculty and alumni.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNevada\u2019s dire nursing shortage is straining our entire medical system and impacting access to care for hard-working families,\u201d <strong>dijo el Senador Rosen.<\/strong> \u201cIn the U.S. Senate, I\u2019ve been working across the aisle to increase access to workforce development so we can train more nurses. I was glad to speak with faculty and staff at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas\u2019 School of Nursing about how we can continue working to address this shortage, and highlight funding I helped secure for their program.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senator Rosen has been leading efforts to address Nevada\u2019s health care professional shortage and improve medical care access in the state. Last year, Senator Rosen helped introduce the bipartisan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2023\/05\/02\/rosen-helps-introduce-bipartisan-bill-to-increase-number-of-physicians-address-doctor-shortage-in-nevada\/\"><em>Medical Student Education Authorization Act<\/em><\/a> to address the doctor shortage by expanding the Medical Student Education Program. She also introduced a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2023\/03\/08\/rosen-introduces-package-of-bipartisan-bills-to-address-doctor-shortage-in-nevada\/\">package of bipartisan bills<\/a> to tackle this health care professional shortage in Nevada and across the nation.
