This funding will be used to place 35 crisis counselors in community programs statewide to support Nevadans coping with the effects of COVID-19.<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><u1_p><\/u1_p><span style=\"mso-ascii-font-family:Calibri;mso-hansi-font-family:Calibri\"><o_p><\/o_p><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size:14.0pt;font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\">\u201cThe coronavirus pandemic is causing a historic rise in mental<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"color:black\">health challenges<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/span>and pushing our nation toward a mental health crisis,\u201d<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><b>dijo el Senador Rosen.<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/b>\u201cI\u2019m pleased to see this FEMA grant awarded to Nevada to bring much-needed crisis counselors to help those struggling by the effects brought on by COVID-19. I will continue working to ensure that Nevada\u2019s hardworking families have the mental health resources they need to overcome this difficult time.\u201d<\/span><u1_p><\/u1_p><o_p><\/o_p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><b><u><span style=\"font-size:14.0pt;font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\">BACKGROUND:<\/span><\/u><\/b><span class=\"apple-converted-space\"><span style=\"font-size:14.0pt;font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:14.0pt;font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\">Through this funding, Crisis Support Services of Nevada (CSSNV) staff will also receive training in crisis counseling and Psychological First Aid. CSSNV connects individuals to trained, compassionate counselors who can offer support and direct them to mental health and<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"color:black\">substance<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/span>use disorder counseling services. CSSNV can be reached at 800-273-8255 or by texting CARE to 839863. This is a toll-free number and all calls are confidential.<\/span><u1_p><\/u1_p><o_p><\/o_p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size:14.0pt;font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\">In addition to direct services provided by crisis counselors, the funding will also assist in providing information on access to resources in communities and provide public awareness campaigns to bring awareness to healthy ways to cope and manage the stressors from COVID-19.<\/span><u1_p><\/u1_p><o_p><\/o_p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size:14.0pt;font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/rosen-colleagues-urge-administration-address-nations-mental-health-needs-caused-coronavirus\/\"><span style=\"color:purple\">Last month<\/span><\/a>, Rosen joined her Senate colleagues in sending a letter to Vice President Mike Pence asking the Administration to take all available actions to help address the mental health aspects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
