The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is awarding<a href=\"https:\/\/www.energy.gov\/mesc\/applicant-self-disclosed-48c-projects\"> nearly $19,600,000<\/a> to American Battery Technology Company in Sparks to support the construction of a new battery recycling facility, as well as<a href=\"https:\/\/www.energy.gov\/mesc\/applicant-self-disclosed-48c-projects\"> $9,390,000<\/a> to Albemarle to expand lithium carbonate production at the Silver Peak Lithium Project, the only lithium producing mine in<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/video\/2022\/10\/14\/inside-silver-peak-americas-only-active-lithium-mine.html\"> North America<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This funding was made possible through DOE\u2019s<a href=\"https:\/\/www.energy.gov\/articles\/biden-harris-administration-announces-4-billion-tax-credits-build-clean-energy-supply\"> Qualifying Advanced Energy Project Tax Credit<\/a> (48C). Cortez Masto and Rosen successfully fought to expand access to this tax credit in the <em>Inflation Reduction Act<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs one of the few places in our nation with an abundance of lithium and other critical minerals, Nevada plays a central role in our domestic clean energy supply chain,\u201d <strong>dijo el Senador Rosen.<\/strong> \u201cI fought to expand access to this tax credit to invest in lithium production and recycling, strengthen our energy security, and support new jobs across Nevada.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNevada\u2019s lithium battery economy is key to our country\u2019s clean energy future, and that\u2019s why I\u2019ve fought to ensure our companies have access to the resources they need to support their operations,\u201d <strong>said Senator Cortez Masto<\/strong>. \u201cThis tax credit allows for the expansion of Nevada\u2019s lithium supply chain, creating good-paying jobs and supporting working families in the Silver State.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senators Rosen and Cortez Masto have consistently worked to support Nevada\u2019s battery supply chain and clean energy industry, which has created <a href=\"https:\/\/www.energy.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/2023-06\/USEER23-NV-v2.pdf\">nearly 42,000<\/a> good-paying clean energy jobs across Nevada. Through her <em>Innovation State Initiative<\/em>, Cortez Masto has been a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cortezmasto.senate.gov\/news\/press-releases\/cortez-masto-introduces-renewable-energy-extension-act\">proponent<\/a> of renewable and sustainable energy, passing bipartisan legislation to promote Nevada\u2019s mining and emerging battery industries. Both Senators have worked to set up a sustainable critical mineral supply chain, having previously delivered crucial funding to<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cortezmasto.senate.gov\/news\/press-releases\/cortez-masto-highlights-grant-she-secured-to-kick-off-nevada-based-lithium-manufacturing-facility-and-create-clean-energy-jobs\/\"> American Battery Technology Company<\/a> and<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cortezmasto.senate.gov\/news\/press-releases\/cortez-masto-announces-over-107-million-in-funding-she-secured-to-support-nevadas-growing-energy-economy\/\"> other companies<\/a> to expand this industry in Nevada.
