The letter asks them to fully study the potential impacts of these changes by requesting a comprehensive Advisory Opinion from the Postal Regulatory Commission. Two weeks ago, USPS <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2024\/04\/23\/rosen-denounces-u-s-postal-service-decision-to-relocate-mail-processing-to-sacramento-pledges-to-explore-all-available-options-to-stop-implementation\/\">announced<\/a> it would move forward with a plan to consolidate and relocate outgoing mail processing operations from Reno, Nevada to Sacramento, California.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cUSPS is moving forward swiftly with plans to consolidate and alter its facilities across the country, making irrevocable changes to its processing and delivery network which links all communities,\u201d <strong>wrote the senators.<\/strong> \u201cWe are concerned about the impacts these changes have had so far, and the potential impacts that further changes could have.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn regions where USPS has implemented significant changes, on-time mail delivery has declined. In addition, it is not clear these changes will improve efficiency or costs,\u201d <strong>they continued.<\/strong> \u201cWe call on USPS to pause all changes, pending a full study of this plan by its regulator.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The full text of the letter can be found <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Bipartisan-Letter-on-USPS-Network-Advisory-Opinion_final.pdf\"><strong>HERE<\/strong><\/a><strong>.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senators Rosen and Cortez Masto have been working across the aisle to stop this proposal. The senators, along with Congressman Mark Amodei (R-NV-02), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2024\/04\/11\/rosen-cortez-masto-amodei-meet-with-usps-on-proposed-relocation-of-processing-operations-from-reno-to-sacramento\/\">repeatedly<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2024\/03\/13\/rosen-cortez-masto-join-push-urging-postmaster-general-dejoy-to-prevent-relocation-of-mail-processing\/\">demanded<\/a> that Postmaster General DeJoy provide detailed information about the impact of his misguided plan. Senator Rosen also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2024\/04\/16\/video-during-senate-hearing-rosen-blasts-postmaster-general-on-proposed-downsizing-of-reno-mail-processing-facility\/\">called out Postmaster General Louis DeJoy<\/a> during a Senate hearing for neglecting to listen to local Nevada leaders, businesses, and residents.
