This bipartisan group insisted the Board exercise its oversight authority to stop Postmaster General DeJoy from implementing this misguided plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOn April 23, 2024, USPS officially announced its decision to proceed with its misguided plan to downsize and relocate outgoing mail processing operations from Reno, Nevada to Sacramento, California,\u201d <strong>wrote the lawmakers and the Governor.<\/strong> \u201cThis announcement came despite multiple requests from the undersigned for USPS to present the data that informed this decision \u2013 requests that were left unanswered for months, refused during in-person meetings with USPS staff, ignored during a United States Senate oversight hearing with the Postmaster General, and finally purported to be addressed in a May 2024 letter that failed to directly address any of the specific concerns Nevada stakeholders and elected officials have raised.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs the USPS Board of Governors, we urge you to conduct your oversight responsibilities to stop this ill-considered plan from going into effect. The Board should not allow Postmaster General DeJoy to proceed with downsizing and relocating Nevada\u2019s Reno P&amp;DC absent critical Nevada-specific data,\u201d <strong>they continued.<\/strong> \u201cFinally, if you feel that the Postmaster General has served as an active impediment to conducting meaningful oversight, then it is time to seriously consider who leads the USPS in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The full text of the letter can be found <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/NV-Letter-to-Postal-Board-of-Governors-Final.pdf\"><strong>HERE<\/strong><\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a member of the committee with jurisdiction over the USPS, Senator Rosen has been leading the efforts to protect postal operations in Nevada. Following USPS\u2019s official announcement that it will move forward with its plan to downsize and relocate outgoing mail processing operations from Reno to Sacramento, she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2024\/04\/23\/rosen-denounces-u-s-postal-service-decision-to-relocate-mail-processing-to-sacramento-pledges-to-explore-all-available-options-to-stop-implementation\/\">denounced the decision and pledged to explore all available options<\/a> to stop its implementation. Senator Rosen also recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2024\/04\/16\/video-during-senate-hearing-rosen-blasts-postmaster-general-on-proposed-downsizing-of-reno-mail-processing-facility\/\">called out Postmaster General Louis DeJoy<\/a> during a Senate hearing for neglecting to listen to local Nevada leaders, businesses, and residents.
