In the letter, Rosen and her colleagues push for funding to allow U.S. Customs and Border Protection to hire additional agents and purchase more surveillance technology for ports of entry along the southern border, where illicit drugs are smuggled in. The Senators also request more funding for U.S. law enforcement to investigate trafficking crimes and the transnational organizations, including Mexican cartels, perpetuating the fentanyl crisis in the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe ask you to build upon past bipartisan investments to ensure that law enforcement officers at our Nation\u2019s borders are equipped to combat the flow of fentanyl and other illicit drugs,\u201d <strong>wrote the Senators.<\/strong> \u201cWe also ask you to provide robust funding to support the law enforcement agencies that are investigating smuggling and trafficking crimes and working to disrupt the transnational criminal networks that threaten our country and our communities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The full text of the letter can be found <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Casey-Fentanyl-Letter.pdf\"><strong>HERE<\/strong><\/a><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senator Rosen has consistently worked across the aisle to secure the border and stop the flow of fentanyl. Last month, the bipartisan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2023\/05\/09\/on-fentanyl-awareness-day-rosen-co-sponsors-bipartisan-bill-to-strengthen-sanctions-against-fentanyl-traffickers\/\"><em>FEND Off Fentanyl Act<\/em><\/a> she backed passed the Senate, which requires the President to sanction drug rings involved in international drug trafficking. Senator Rosen also voted to advance <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2024\/04\/10\/rosen-helps-pass-bipartisan-bills-through-committee-to-improve-border-inspections-for-fentanyl-contraband\/\">two bipartisan bills<\/a> to improve U.S. Customs and Border Protection resources to better detect illicit drugs like fentanyl and other contraband smuggled across the U.S. southern border.
