Recent ballistic testing by the FBI identified that body armor typically used by Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officers is designed to fit in a way that can allow bullets to deflect off the chest of the armor and hit the throat area, leaving many female officers and some male officers, vulnerable. The bipartisan <em>Better Ballistic Body Armor Act<\/em> would better protect law enforcement by requiring all agencies under\u00a0DHS to provide them with the next generation of body armor.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFederal law enforcement officers in Nevada and across our nation put their lives on the line to protect our communities, and we owe it to them to keep them safe,\u201d <strong>dijo el Senador Rosen.<\/strong> \u201cI helped advance this bipartisan bill to provide federal officers with improved body armor and better protect them while in the line of duty. I\u2019ll keep working at the federal level to provide our law enforcement with equipment they need to do their jobs effectively and safely.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senator Rosen has been a strong supporter of ensuring Nevada\u2019s law enforcement community has the resources needed to keep communities safe. Last year, Senator Rosen secured <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2023\/08\/10\/rosen-cortez-masto-announce-delivery-of-more-than-7-2-million-they-secured-for-nevada-law-enforcement-other-first-responders\/\">millions<\/a> for law enforcement and first responders in the 2023 funding bill, ensuring these critical funds were delivered to communities across the state. Senator Rosen also helped pass the bipartisan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2023\/07\/27\/rosen-backed-bipartisan-bill-to-hire-and-retain-more-police-officers-passes-senate\/#:~:text=The%20Rosen%2Dbacked%20bill%20would,to%20enter%20careers%20in%20law\"><em>Recruit and Retain Act<\/em><\/a>, which is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2024\/05\/15\/rosen-backed-bipartisan-bill-to-hire-and-retain-more-police-officers-heads-to-the-presidents-desk\/\">on its way to become law<\/a>.
