WASHINGTON DC <\/strong>\u2013 Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) released the following statement to mark two years since the Supreme Court\u2019s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade<\/em>, which opened the door to restrictions on women\u2019s reproductive freedoms across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn the two years since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade<\/em>, anti-choice extremists\u2019 attacks on women\u2019s reproductive freedoms have been nonstop,\u201d dijo el Senador Rosen.<\/strong> \u201cFrom extreme abortion bans to attempts to restrict birth control and IVF, these extreme politicians are dead set on controlling women\u2019s bodies. Let me be clear: as long as I\u2019m in the Senate, I\u2019ll keep fighting to restore Roe and push back against these shameful attempts to restrict our freedoms.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Senator Rosen continues fighting back against efforts to restrict access to reproductive rights. She recently voted to protect women\u2019s constitutional right to access birth control<\/a> and helped introduce a bill<\/a> to safeguard the ability to start or grow a family by establishing a legal right to access IVF and other assisted reproductive technology. Senator Rosen also helped introduce the Let Doctors Provide Reproductive Health Care Act<\/em><\/a> to protect doctors and other health care professionals from being prosecuted for providing reproductive care to their patients. Additionally, she helped introduce the Women\u2019s Health Protection Act<\/em><\/a> to protect reproductive freedoms in federal law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Below are Senator Rosen\u2019s remarks as delivered last week:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overturning Roe v. Wade was just the beginning of the non-stop attacks against reproductive freedom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the years since, anti-choice politicians have pushed and pushed to restrict reproductive rights and ban abortion, including by passing a national abortion ban. They want to pass a national abortion ban right here in Congress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ve lived in Las Vegas for fifty years, and I\u2019d bet the house that anti-choice Senate Republicans will vote to ban abortion nationwide if they\u2019re given the chance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And so just because many of them are suddenly, they\u2019re just suddenly changing their tune, they\u2019re refusing to talk about this issue, it does not mean they won\u2019t vote for a nationwide abortion ban as soon as they\u2019re given the chance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, if you believe the extremists who pushed for years to overturn Roe, if you believe the extremists who said they were 100 percent [pro-]life, those same extremists who advocated for state bans now agree in an election year not to pass a national abortion ban, well, I have some ocean-front property in Las Vegas to sell you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

None of us here, none of us here will be fooled by their cover ups of their anti-choice records. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instead, Senate Democrats are going to keep working to restore Roe. We\u2019ll keep working to protect access to birth control. And we\u2019ll keep working to protect IVF for those folks who want to start a family. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And we\u2019ll keep fighting to make sure that women, and not extreme politicians, have the freedom to make their own health care decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
