The bipartisan <em>Detection Equipment and Technology Evaluation to Counter the Threat of (DETECT) Fentanyl and Xylazine Act<\/em> would authorize the Department of Homeland Security to conduct research and development, testing, and evaluation on equipment that would help law enforcement better detect fentanyl and other drugs. In fiscal year 2023, U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized 240,000 pounds of drugs at the U.S. southern border, which included an estimated 1.1 billion doses of fentanyl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFentanyl is destroying communities across Nevada, and I\u2019m doing all I can to get law enforcement the resources needed to detect and stop illicit drugs,\u201d <strong>dijo el Senador Rosen.<\/strong> \u201cThat\u2019s why I\u2019m supporting a bipartisan bill to help improve the equipment that law enforcement rely on to better detect fentanyl and other drugs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senator Rosen has consistently worked across the aisle to secure the border and stop the flow of fentanyl. In April, the bipartisan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2023\/05\/09\/on-fentanyl-awareness-day-rosen-co-sponsors-bipartisan-bill-to-strengthen-sanctions-against-fentanyl-traffickers\/\"><em>FEND Off Fentanyl Act<\/em><\/a> she backed was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2024\/04\/24\/rosen-backed-bipartisan-bill-to-crack-down-on-fentanyl-trafficking-passes-the-senate-signed-into-law\/\">convirti\u00f3 en ley<\/a>, requiring the President to sanction drug rings involved in international drug trafficking. Senator Rosen also voted to advance <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2024\/04\/10\/rosen-helps-pass-bipartisan-bills-through-committee-to-improve-border-inspections-for-fentanyl-contraband\/\">two bipartisan bills<\/a> to improve U.S. Customs and Border Protection resources to better detect illicit drugs like fentanyl and other contraband smuggled across the U.S. southern border.
