She argues that by awarding the state more medical residency slots to keep pace with population growth, more doctors will be able to learn and practice medicine in Nevada.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs Nevada\u2019s population continues to grow, the gap between Nevadans\u2019 medical needs and their ability to access care has only worsened over time,\u201d <strong>dijo el Senador Rosen. <\/strong>\u201cToday our state is facing a dire shortage of doctors, making it challenging for many Nevadans to access the quality, affordable health care that they need.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat is why I helped fund 1,000 new graduate medical education (GME) residency slots through the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021, which Congress passed at the end of 2020. As the majority of these new GME slots remain to be awarded, Nevada continues to be in desperate need of additional physicians,\u201d <strong>she continued.<\/strong> \u201cAs you continue to assess Nevada\u2019s medical workforce needs, including for our rural communities, I urge you to award our state a greater proportion of residency slots so we can better meet Nevadans\u2019 critical medical needs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>The full text of the letter can be found <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Rosen-to-HHS_GME-slots-NV11.14.24.pdf\"><strong>HERE<\/strong><\/a><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Senator Rosen has been fighting to increase Nevadans\u2019 access to quality, affordable health care. Senator Rosen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2022\/08\/07\/rosen-votes-to-pass-inflation-reduction-act\/\">helped pass<\/a> legislation to give Medicare the power to negotiate lower prescription drug prices and cap insulin at $35\/month. Earlier this year, she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2024\/09\/27\/rosen-helps-introduce-legislation-to-make-affordable-care-act-tax-credits-permanent-prevent-health-care-costs-from-rising\/\">helped introduce<\/a> legislation to make <em>Affordable Care Act<\/em> tax credits permanent and prevent health care costs from rising for millions of Americans. She also held a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2024\/08\/29\/rosen-hosts-roundtable-discussion-on-efforts-to-improve-health-care-access-for-veterans-in-reno\/\">roundtable<\/a> to discuss efforts to improve health care access for veterans and helped introduce <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2024\/03\/27\/rosen-fischer-introduce-bipartisan-bill-to-permanently-protect-va-helpline-for-veterans\/\">bipartisan legislation<\/a> to officially authorize the construction of a new veterans hospital in Reno.
