The bipartisan <em>Fiscal Year 2024 Veterans Affairs Major Medical Facility Authorization Act<\/em> allows the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to officially change the scope of the VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System project from a previously-approved renovation of the existing facility, to the construction of a new veterans medical center. This was the next step needed in the process to begin construction of a new VA hospital, and it follows <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2023\/03\/02\/rosen-cortez-masto-request-new-reno-veterans-hospital-in-presidents-upcoming-budget\/\">Senator Rosen\u2019s successful push<\/a> with Senator Cortez Masto to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2023\/03\/14\/as-a-result-of-rosen-led-push-new-reno-veterans-hospital-included-in-presidents-budget\/\">include<\/a> the hospital in the President\u2019s 2024 Budget Request.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI pushed the Biden Administration to construct a new VA hospital in Reno because veterans living all across Northern Nevada deserve to have access to world-class health care in a state-of-the-art facility,\u201d <strong>dijo el Senador Rosen.<\/strong> \u201cI worked across the aisle to secure the necessary Congressional approval for this project, and I look forward to the President signing this bipartisan bill into law so we can finally begin the process of constructing the new hospital that our veterans deserve.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNorthern Nevada veterans are past-due for a new, state-of-the-art veterans hospital, and this funding will kickstart the construction and planning process,\u201d<strong> said Senator Cortez Masto. <\/strong>\u201cThis is an exciting first step, and I won\u2019t stop until this project is completed and our brave men and women who have served our country have the facility they deserve.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senators Rosen and Cortez Masto have been working across the aisle to support Nevada\u2019s veterans. They helped secure historic infrastructure investments in the bipartisan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2022\/08\/10\/rosen-supported-legislation-to-provide-health-care-benefits-to-toxic-exposed-veterans-signed-into-law\/\"><em>PACT Act<\/em><\/a>, which expands VA health care eligibility to all veterans who were exposed to toxins and other hazards during their service.
