I will continue working in Congress to find solutions that will expand and protect our growing STEM workforce in Nevada and throughout the country.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><b><u><span style=\"font-size:14.0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\">BACKGROUND:<\/span><\/span><\/u><\/b><span style=\"font-size:14.0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\">&nbsp;In September, Senator Rosen introduced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/rosen-hyde-smith-introduce-bipartisan-jobs-bill-support-mid-career-workers-re-entering-or\/\"><span style=\"color:#0563c1\">the <i>STEM Restoring Employment Skills through Targeted Assistance, Re-entry, and Training (RESTART) Act<\/i>,<\/span><\/a> bipartisan legislation that would provide funding to small and medium-sized STEM businesses to offer robust, paid, mid-career internships, known as \u201creturnships\u201d for mid-career workers seeking to return or transition into the STEM workforce.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size:14.0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\">In June, Senator Rosen also introduced the <i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/rosen-leads-bipartisan-group-senators-introducing-promotes-act-2020-train-next-generation-stem\/\"><span style=\"color:#0563c1\">PROMOTES Act of 2020<\/span><\/a><\/i>, bicameral and bipartisan legislation that would authorize the Secretary of Defense to carry out a program to enhance the preparation of high school students in JROTC for military and civilian careers in all STEM fields, including computer science and cybersecurity.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size:14.0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\">In July, Senator Rosen also co-sponsored the <i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/rosen-cassidy-introduce-bipartisan-protect-act-legislation-support-us-cybersecurity-education-and\/\"><span style=\"color:#0563c1\">PROTECT Act<\/span><\/a><\/i>, bipartisan legislation to codify and strengthen CISA\u2019s Cybersecurity Education and Training Assistance Program (CETAP).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size:14.0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\">Last year, Senator Rosen introduced the <i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/rosens-bipartisan-building-blocks-stem-act-signed-law\/\"><span style=\"color:#0563c1\">Building Blocks of STEM Act<\/span><\/a><\/i>, bipartisan legislation to create and expand STEM education initiatives at the National Science Foundation (NSF) for young children, including new research grants to increase the participation of girls in computer science.
