The funding comes from the Department of the Interior\u2019s Bureau of Reclamation and will fund the conversion of 23 million square feet of non-native, water-intensive grasses to water-efficient desert landscaping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNevada is a national leader in water conservation, routinely using less water than most states in the region,\u201d<strong> dijo el Senador Rosen. <\/strong>\u201cThis federal funding will help our state continue protecting Nevadans\u2019 access to water by investing in drought-resilient landscaping.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe drought crisis that Southern Nevada faces requires creative, innovative solutions,\u201d <strong>said Senator Cortez Masto<\/strong>. \u201cThe SNWA\u2019s landscape rebate program has already helped save millions of gallons of water in Las Vegas and expanding it will put significantly less strain on our water supply and restore even more of our native desert vegetation. I am proud to have secured this funding, and I will continue working in the Senate to combat drought in the Silver State.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senators Rosen and Cortez Masto have been leaders working to support conservation efforts and combat drought. As part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2020\/03\/10\/rosen-colleagues-introduce-bipartisan-great-american-outdoors-act\/\">Great American Outdoors Act<\/a>, they secured permanent funding for the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF). They recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2024\/10\/23\/rosen-cortez-masto-announce-10-million-to-improve-marlette-lake-dams-infrastructure-and-resiliency\/\">announced<\/a> $10 million from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to enhance the safety and functionality of the Marlette Lake Dam.
