Veterans make up <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opm.gov\/fedshirevets\/hiring-officials\/ved-fy21.pdf\">30%<\/a> of the federal workforce, with 640,000 veterans working in federal agencies. The Trump Administration\u2019s mass terminations have already led to the unprecedented firing of an <a href=\"https:\/\/democrats-appropriations.house.gov\/news\/press-releases\/trump-and-unchecked-billionaire-musk-have-fired-nearly-6000-veterans\">estimated 6,000<\/a> veterans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFederal civil service has long been a preferred path for military-affiliated populations, allowing them to continue serving our country while offering competitive wages, benefits, and much-needed stability,\u201d <strong>wrote the Senators.<\/strong> \u201cAt DoD, where you have announced the imminent firing of 5,400 employees, with plans to cut anywhere from 35,000 to 56,000 in the near future \u2013 the percentage of veterans is nearly 50 percent. And at VA, where veterans are able to do work directly impacting their fellow veterans, the percentage of veteran employees is nearly 30 percent. Each and every day, these veterans perform duties vital to the American people, our national security and our way of life.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYour Administration\u2019s actions are damaging the economic security and morale of our military and veteran families, the federal government\u2019s ability to recruit and retain high-quality talent, and ultimately, our national security,\u201d <strong>they continued.<\/strong> \u201cWe demand that you cease your attacks on our nation\u2019s heroes, who have already given so much in defense of our country, and immediately reinstate those who have been illegally fired with their full back pay and benefits.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The full letter can be found <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/2025-02-27-Letter-to-POTUS-on-veterans-in-the-federal-workforce.pdf\"><strong>HERE<\/strong><\/a><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senator Rosen has been a champion for Nevada\u2019s servicemembers and their families. In a previous <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2025\/02\/21\/rosen-cortez-masto-demand-department-of-veterans-affairs-provides-answers-regarding-mass-employee-terminations\/\">letter<\/a>, she demanded the VA provide answers regarding mass employee terminations.
