The <em>Putting Veterans First Act<\/em> would protect veterans, military spouses, and VA employees indiscriminately targeted in the Department of Government Efficiency\u2019s (DOGE) cuts at VA and across the federal government. This week, a federal judge blocked these firings and ordered employees to be rehired \u2014 a ruling which likely will be appealed. This bill would permanently reverse the firings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s outrageous that Donald Trump and Elon Musk recklessly fired veterans, and those who care for them, for absolutely no reason,\u201d <strong>dijo el Senador Rosen.<\/strong> \u201cThese selfless, hardworking men and women deserve respect and should\u2019ve never been treated this way. That\u2019s why I\u2019m proud to help introduce this bill to reverse these terminations, grant full back pay and benefits, and protect our veterans and those who provide them with the care they deserve.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senator Rosen has been fighting back against attacks on the VA and its employees who serve veterans. This week, she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2025\/03\/13\/rosen-calls-on-trump-administration-to-permanently-reverse-layoffs-of-department-of-veterans-affairs-employees-in-nevada\/\">sent a letter<\/a> urging Secretary of Veterans Affairs Doug Collins to immediately and permanently reverse the Trump Administration\u2019s terminations of VA employees in Nevada for \u201cpoor performance\u201d despite their evaluations showing otherwise. Last week, Rosen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2025\/03\/06\/on-senate-floor-rosen-calls-on-trump-administration-to-reverse-layoffs-at-department-of-veterans-affairs\/\">spoke<\/a> on the Senate floor to demand the reversal of layoffs at the VA. In a previous letter, she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2025\/03\/04\/rosen-colleagues-demand-trump-reinstate-every-veteran-illegally-fired-in-mass-terminations\/\">demanded<\/a> the VA reinstate every veteran illegally fired in mass terminations and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2025\/02\/21\/rosen-cortez-masto-demand-department-of-veterans-affairs-provides-answers-regarding-mass-employee-terminations\/\">called on<\/a> the VA to provide answers regarding mass employee terminations.
