The bipartisan <em>Major Richard Star Act <\/em>would repeal unfair offsets, allowing these disabled veterans to receive both their retirement pay and disability compensation. Currently, only veterans with disability ratings above 50 percent and more than 20 years of service are eligible to receive the full amount of their Department of Defense (DoD) retirement and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) disability payments\u2014leaving behind more than 50,000 combat-injured military retirees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s unconscionable that so many brave men and women who served our nation in uniform and sustained injuries during their service still cannot access the full benefits they\u2019ve earned,\u201d <strong>dijo el Senador Rosen.<\/strong> \u201cWe need to right this wrong, which is why I\u2019m helping introduce a bipartisan bill to make sure veterans who were injured in combat can receive their full disability and retirement pay.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senator Rosen has been working to deliver for Nevada\u2019s veterans. She has sent letters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2025\/03\/17\/rosen-colleagues-demand-department-of-veterans-affairs-reverse-course-on-plans-to-reduce-workforce\/\">demanding<\/a> that the VA reverses harmful plans to reduce their workforce, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2025\/03\/13\/rosen-calls-on-trump-administration-to-permanently-reverse-layoffs-of-department-of-veterans-affairs-employees-in-nevada\/\">calling on<\/a> the VA to permanently reverse layoffs, and pushing for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2025\/02\/21\/rosen-cortez-masto-demand-department-of-veterans-affairs-provides-answers-regarding-mass-employee-terminations\/\">answers<\/a> regarding mass employee terminations at the VA. Earlier this month, Senator Rosen helped introduce <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2025\/03\/12\/rosen-helps-introduce-bill-to-reinstate-veterans-wrongfully-fired-by-trump-elon-musk\/\">legislation<\/a> to reinstate veterans wrongfully fired by President Trump and Elon Musk.
