Senator Rosen urged Chair Ferguson to reverse his decision to close a public comment window early so the FTC can fully understand how large retailers are using technology to hurt consumers\u2019 budgets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI write to express my concern with your recent decision to close the public comment window two months early on the FTC\u2019s Request for Information regarding retailers\u2019 use of such surveillance pricing,\u201d <strong>wrote Senator Rosen. <\/strong>\u201cI urge you to reopen this public comment period, as it is important for the agency to fully understand how surveillance pricing is potentially driving up costs for consumers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cRecent improvements in artificial intelligence (AI) and the accumulation of specific consumer data like geographic location and demographic information are allowing large corporate retailers to raise prices artificially, inconsistently, and unfairly,\u201d <strong>she continued. <\/strong>\u201cWith Nevadans already experiencing some of the<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>highest grocery prices in the United States, consumers\u2019 ability to compare costs across stores and find the lowest price is important for putting food on the table.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The full letter can be found <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/3.25.2025.-Letter-to-Chair-on-Surveillance-Pricing-RFI.pdf\"><strong>HERE<\/strong><\/a><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senator Rosen has been pushing back on the Trump Administration\u2019s actions that raise prices for hardworking Nevadans. Last month, she took to the Senate floor to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2025\/02\/04\/on-senate-floor-rosen-calls-out-trump-administration-for-breaking-promise-to-lower-grocery-prices-doing-nothing-to-address-egg-shortage\/\">call out<\/a> the Trump Administration for its lack of actions to lower grocery prices and address the egg shortage. Senator Rosen has also been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2025\/02\/18\/rosen-senate-colleagues-urge-president-trump-to-reject-republican-budget-that-raises-costs-for-families\/\">urging her colleagues<\/a> to reject Congressional Republicans\u2019 legislative plans to increase the cost of living for Americans. Additionally, she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2025\/03\/03\/rosen-urges-trump-administration-to-take-action-to-prevent-higher-housing-prices-as-a-result-of-tariffs-on-canada-and-mexico\/\">sent a letter<\/a> urging the Trump Administration to reverse course on imposing tariffs on Canada and Mexico to prevent housing prices from rising even further.
