In the letter, Rosen highlighted the risks to Americans\u2019 health data if left unprotected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI write to express my deep concerns over the recent reports that the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has removed key Information Technology (IT) and cybersecurity personnel and leadership, leaving critical infrastructure unprotected and unmaintained,\u201d <strong>wrote Senator Rosen. <\/strong>\u201cI\u2019m concerned the elimination of these key staff was made without clear justification or regard to the risk to cybersecurity, network and system functionality, and the potential for Americans\u2019 health data to go unprotected.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs the second-largest department in the federal government, staff across HHS manage complex and large networks and systems, requiring specialized IT personnel,\u201d <strong>she continued. <\/strong>\u201cThe reported removal of staff from tech offices across HHS is highly disturbing, as these staff were responsible for managing essential networks and systems, public-facing websites, enterprise services, and cybersecurity contracts.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The full letter can be found <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/4.28.2025.-Rosen-Letter-to-HHS-on-IT-workforce-cuts.pdf\"><strong>HERE<\/strong><\/a><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since she joined the Senate, Senator Rosen has been working across party lines to strengthen our nation\u2019s cybersecurity infrastructure. Last year, she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2024\/10\/23\/department-of-veterans-affairs-implements-rosens-bipartisan-law-to-strengthen-cybersecurity-of-veterans-personal-information\/\">announced<\/a> that the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) implemented her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2022\/03\/17\/rosen-blackburn-introduce-bipartisan-legislation-to-bolster-department-of-veterans-affairs-cybersecurity-protect-veterans-personal-information\/\">bipartisan law<\/a> to strengthen the cybersecurity of veterans\u2019 personal information and data.
