The new tariffs have created a cloud of uncertainty that gives companies cover to raise prices on all goods, regardless of whether they are subject to new tariffs or whether their costs have meaningfully increased, above and beyond what is necessary to cover any cost increases,\u201d <strong>the members wrote.<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cArmed with the knowledge that the FTC has turned a blind eye to this price-gouging tactic, companies now have free rein to use surveillance pricing to price gouge consumers. A former FTC official said, \u2018The message that is coming out of this administration\u2026is that the watchdog is gone and companies feel emboldened to rip people off.\u2019 We urge you to fulfill your public commitment and to ensure President Trump\u2019s trade war is not a \u2018green light\u2019 for price gouging,\u201d <strong>concluded the members.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>You can read the full text of the letter <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Trump-Tariff-Price-Gouging-Letterpdf.pdf\"><strong>HERE<\/strong><\/a><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senator Rosen is working to lower costs and protect American consumers. Earlier this year, she sent a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2025\/03\/26\/rosen-pushes-back-on-attempts-to-use-ai-to-raise-prices\/\">letter<\/a> to the FTC expressing concern over the use of artificial intelligence (AI) by corporations to target individuals with different prices for the same products through surveillance pricing. Senator Rosen was also part of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.banking.senate.gov\/imo\/media\/doc\/Letter_to_Vought_on_CFPB_RIF.pdf\">letter<\/a> pressing the Trump Administration on how mass firings at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau will hurt Nevada families. She has also introduced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2024\/01\/16\/icymi-rosen-introduces-legislation-to-crack-down-on-corporate-price-gouging-in-the-housing-market\/\">legislation<\/a> to crack down on price gouging by corporate investors who are driving up housing prices.
