The bill, which Senator Rosen passed by unanimous consent, would exempt American workers\u2019 tipped wages from federal income tax. It now heads to the U.S. House of Representatives to be considered. Nevada has the<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/trump-tips-taxes-nevada-0fc5fa0fb7bdcf963757c748c01bfbe9\"> highest<\/a> concentration of tipped workers in the nation, and the bipartisan <em>No Tax on Tips Act<\/em> would allow workers to keep their tips without having to pay federal income tax on them. Yes, it did.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong><em>HOST:&nbsp; <\/em><\/strong><em>Tell us, what magic did you bring to that?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong><em>ROSEN:&nbsp; <\/em><\/strong><em>Well, I want to tell you, my motto is, agree where you can, fight where you must.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>And so this is a great bill for Nevada, because 25 percent of our workforce is in hospitality.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>You may not know this, but I put myself through school as a waitress. I worked as a member of the Culinary Union. And even after I got my first job as a computer programmer, I continued to wait tables because I didn&#8217;t make enough money. So I know what it means to live on tips.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>[The] Average Nevadan makes about 40 grand a year. Our bill, the bill in the Senate, is a stronger bill with guardrails, so those who need to not pay taxes on their tips are really the tip workers, not some CEO or billionaire like Elon Musk and the entire Cabinet, so they can declare their salary as a tip.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>So, this bill is a stronger, better bill. It should stand on its own. I&#8217;m going to challenge the House to pass it, because in that reckless reconciliation bill that they have been working on since 1:00 a.m., the middle of the night, they have a different bill for tax on tips. It doesn&#8217;t have the guardrails.
