WASHINGTON, D.C.<\/span><\/span><\/b> \u2013 Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) announced that the National Park Service (NPS) has awarded a series of state, local, and Tribal preservation grants totaling $1,338,126 to Nevada Tribes and the state to assist in the preservation and protection of historically significant sites.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe histories and cultures of our tribal communities are invaluable, and we must preserve and honor them,\u201d said Senator Rosen<\/b>. \u201cI am pleased to see this grant funding go to Nevada Tribes as they continue to preserve their rich cultural histories for future generations and protect their historically significant sites. I will continue working to support Nevada\u2019s tribal communities in every way I can.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

BACKGROUND:<\/span><\/span><\/u><\/b>  Administered by the NPS, these funds are appropriated annually by Congress from the Historic Preservation Fund (HPF). Since its inception in 1977, the HPF has provided more than $2 billion in historic preservation grants to states, tribes, local governments, and non-profit organizations.  <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
