Established as part of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), the PPHF supports vital public health programs, including those involved in preventing and responding to pandemics like COVID-19, but has never been fully funded.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size:14.0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\">\u201cThe COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted our nation\u2019s dire need to invest in pandemic prevention and public health response programs,\u201d <b>dijo el Senador Rosen.<\/b> \u201cThis legislation will address disparities in our pandemic response efforts and help prevent future pandemics by fully funding the Prevention and Public Health Fund. I will continue working to improve our public health infrastructure and protect the well-being of all Nevadans.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><b><u><span style=\"font-size:14.0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\">BACKGROUND:<\/span><\/span><\/u><\/b><span style=\"font-size:14.0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\">&nbsp; los <i>Public Health Funding Prevents Pandemics Act<\/i> would authorize and appropriate $2 billion in Fiscal Year 2022 and each subsequent fiscal year to fully restore the PPHF. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size:14.0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\">Under the ACA, funding for the PPHF was supposed to increase over time and reach $2 billion in Fiscal Year 2015. However, the PPHF has been repeatedly cut in lieu of other legislative priorities, and has never reached the $2 billion funding level.
