The bill, co-led with Senator Jerry Moran (R-KS) and co-sponsored by Senators Kevin Cramer (R-ND), Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), Steve Daines (R-MT), and Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), would expand the existing Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) for employers to ensure that student veterans using their GI benefits can take advantage of valuable paid internships or work opportunities while in school. Rosen first introduced the <i>Hire Student Veterans Act<\/i> in February 2019, and it was endorsed by the Student Veterans of America.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size:14.0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\">Last Congress, Senator Rosen introduced the <i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/during-national-suicide-prevention-week-rosen-and-cramer-introduce-bipartisan-legislation-address\/\"><span style=\"color:#0563c1\">VA Zero Suicide Demonstration Project Act<\/span><\/a><\/i> (S. 4545) alongside Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND). This bipartisan bill would build upon the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs\u2019 (VA) strong suicide prevention efforts by implementing a Zero Suicide Initiative pilot program at five VA medical centers across the nation, one of which must serve primarily veterans who live in rural and remote areas.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size:14.0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\">Last Congress, Senator Rosen also introduced the <i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/rosen-capito-fischer-peters-introduce-bipartisan-legislation-establishing-veterans-assistance\/\"><span style=\"color:#0563c1\">Veterans Assistance Helpline Act<\/span><\/a><\/i>, alongside Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), Deb Fischer (R-NE), and Gary Peters (D-MI).
