This program could further harm the tourism industry in Nevada, which is <a href=\"https:\/\/thenevadaindependent.com\/article\/march-decline-in-las-vegas-visitation-blamed-on-international-travel-drop-off\">already struggling<\/a> as a result of President Trump\u2019s chaotic trade and immigration policies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLas Vegas has already experienced more than a seven percent decrease in tourism through June of 2025 compared to the first six months of the previous year, and the Visa Bond Pilot Program will only further deter visitors,\u201d <strong>wrote Senator Rosen. <\/strong>\u201cThis restriction will not only reduce the volume of inbound visitors, but will also disrupt the steady flow of tourism-related revenue that supports countless American-owned small businesses, hotels, restaurants, and attractions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWith major global events on the horizon, such as the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the 2028 Summer Olympics, states need to maximize tourism opportunities, not restrict them,\u201d <strong>continued Senator Rosen.<\/strong> \u201cIn light of these concerns, I request that the Department of State suspend implementation of the Visa Bond Pilot Program.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The full letter can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Rosen-Letter-to-DOS-re-Visa-Bond-Pilot-Program-8.6.25.pdf\"><strong>HERE<\/strong><\/a><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senator Rosen has been a leader in working to support Nevada\u2019s travel and tourism industry. As the former chair of the Senate subcommittee overseeing tourism, she worked across party lines to support this critical industry, including via her landmark <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2022\/12\/20\/rosen-bipartisan-bill-to-strengthen-travel-and-tourism-included-in-government-funding-package\/\"><em>Omnibus Travel and Tourism Act<\/em><\/a>, which was signed into law at the end of 2022. As a lead author of the airports section of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, Senator Rosen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2021\/10\/12\/rosen-visits-reno-tahoe-international-airport-highlights-airport-infrastructure-investments-she-secured-in-senate-passed-bipartisan-infrastructure-package\/\">helped create the Airport Terminal Program<\/a> to provide funding to help airports expand and rebuild their terminals to improve the traveler experience. She has also been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2025\/05\/02\/this-senator-worries-america-is-scaring-away-tourists\/\">outspoken<\/a> about the harm that Trump\u2019s reckless tariffs will have on tourism in Nevada.
