This action could put the stability of the energy grid at risk and raise utility rates in states that rely on solar power, like Nevada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are concerned this memo is meant to intentionally hinder the deployment of renewable energy projects on our public lands, and we question its necessity, especially considering this memo only applies to wind and solar energy facilities rather than all forms of energy production. We are also concerned that the impacts of this memo extend beyond federal lands to any private project that requires approvals at the federal level, such as for transmission right-of-way permits, thus placing even more projects potentially at risk of either being delayed or cancelled altogether,\u201d <strong>wrote the members.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As DOI implements this new policy, residential electricity rates have spiked across the United States \u2013 more than 30 percent on average since 2020 and almost double the rate of inflation in the past year. At the same time, President Trump ended or <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/climatepower.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Energy-Crisis-Snapshot.pdf__;!!BSgrhSFG!GrAGlo1GIa3uHiW_7KSrp3hOstz1RuZU3xqXF-IWYtku3dC1MIWX4k7624l1I_hEEA6PnAvAPvQ1aq5RF5_pfiSuV90I3znOt9cR6dToGBXOqA$\">delayed 80,500 clean energy jobs<\/a>, cancelled<a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/www.semafor.com\/article\/10\/07\/2025\/trump-eyes-deeper-energy-project-cuts-as-shutdown-drags-on__;!!BSgrhSFG!GrAGlo1GIa3uHiW_7KSrp3hOstz1RuZU3xqXF-IWYtku3dC1MIWX4k7624l1I_hEEA6PnAvAPvQ1aq5RF5_pfiSuV90I3znOt9cR6dRzePuMtQ$\"> $24 billion<\/a> for energy projects since May, and announced the termination of nearly <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/subscriber.politicopro.com\/article\/eenews\/2025\/10\/01\/white-house-to-slash-8b-in-funding-for-blue-states-00590395__;!!BSgrhSFG!GrAGlo1GIa3uHiW_7KSrp3hOstz1RuZU3xqXF-IWYtku3dC1MIWX4k7624l1I_hEEA6PnAvAPvQ1aq5RF5_pfiSuV90I3znOt9cR6dTJ5U03Bw$\">$8 billion<\/a> in clean energy investments in states that did not vote for Trump. Additional projects,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.8newsnow.com\/news\/local-news\/massive-esmeralda-seven-solar-project-in-nevada-killed-website-notice-shows\/\"> including in Nevada<\/a>, face increased uncertainty due to the Administration\u2019s decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe United States is facing an impending energy crisis. Electricity demand is rising rapidly, yet the energy grid is unprepared. DOI\u2019s July 15th memo does not \u201cunleash energy dominance;\u201d it weaponizes the permitting process against it. She helped pass the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2021\/08\/10\/rosen-votes-to-pass-infrastructure-investment-and-jobs-act-secures-wins-for-nevada\/\"><em>Bipartisan Infrastructure Law<\/em><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2022\/08\/07\/rosen-votes-to-pass-inflation-reduction-act\/\"><em>Inflation Reduction Act<\/em><\/a>, which have been making significant investments in Nevada\u2019s clean energy economy and the jobs it supports.
