The <em>No Tariffs on Groceries Act <\/em>would require Congressional approval for any tariff levied on food or agricultural products. Since coming into office, Donald Trump has imposed wide-ranging tariffs on groceries, household goods, and other items that have severely increased costs for Americans. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jec.senate.gov\/public\/index.cfm\/democrats\/press-releases?ID=4E5A0B99-BC33-4E69-8B83-8F44F1EB2DCB\">new report<\/a> released by the Joint Economic Committee (JEC) shows that the average U.S. household has already spent an average of $700 more in the first eight months under President Donald Trump, including nearly $1,000 more for Nevada families \u2014 among the highest in the nation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Several <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/data-graphics\/grocery-price-tracker-inflation-trends-eggs-bread-trump-administration-rcna239569\">other<\/a> reports show that prices of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/price-tracker\/\">foods<\/a> like chicken, beef, bread, steak, orange juice, lettuce, and potatoes have risen since Trump took office. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Consumer Price Index for grocery store or supermarket food purchases <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ers.usda.gov\/data-products\/food-price-outlook\/summary-findings\">increased<\/a> 0.4 percent from July 2025 to August 2025 and was 2.7 percent higher than in August 2024. While President Trump recently lowered a handful of the cost-increasing tariffs he has imposed, high tariffs on numerous grocery products remain in place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Congresswoman Haley Stevens (D-MI) introduced a version of this legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives earlier this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDonald Trump lied to the American people when he promised to bring prices down \u2018on day one,\u2019\u201d <strong>dijo el Senador Rosen. <\/strong>\u201cHis reckless tariffs have done the opposite, raising grocery costs and making it harder for hardworking families to put food on the table. Last month, she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2025\/10\/29\/rosen-votes-to-pass-bipartisan-bill-to-end-trump-tariffs-on-brazil\/\">voted to pass<\/a> bipartisan legislation to end Donald Trump\u2019s tariffs on Brazil, which are raising costs on essentials like coffee. Earlier this year, she signed on to an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2025\/07\/21\/rosen-joins-amicus-brief-urging-federal-appeals-court-to-strike-down-trumps-illegal-cost-raising-tariffs\/\">amicus brief<\/a> challenging the President\u2019s illegal tariffs in court. She also helped introduce the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2025\/03\/12\/rosen-cortez-masto-introduce-legislation-to-investigate-impact-of-trump-tariffs-on-working-families\/\"><em>Tariff Transparency Act<\/em><\/a>, which would require the U.S. International Trade Commission to study and publicly report on the economic effects of tariffs on Canada and Mexico\u2013 key trading partners for Nevada industries.
