The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2025\/08\/26\/rosen-introduces-bill-to-crack-down-on-corporate-price-gouging-in-the-housing-market\/\"><em>Housing Oversight and Mitigation Exploitation (HOME) Act<\/em><\/a> would, among other things, make it illegal for any corporation or person to rent or sell a dwelling unit at an unreasonable price during an affordable housing crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur \u2018Housing Oversight and Mitigation Exploitation (HOME) Act\u2019 provides clear, administrable tools to crack down on corporate price gouging in the housing market, which can drive up already-high home prices and take affordable homes off the market,\u201d <strong>wrote the members.<\/strong> \u201cAs you already noted, some large corporate investors raise significant capital to make high cash offers on single-family homes, often hollowing middle-income neighborhoods across the country and sometimes making it impossible for first-time homebuyers to compete.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSince you\u2019ve opened the door to confronting housing speculation and lowering the cost of housing, the \u2018HOME Act\u2019 offers a ready-to-move solution,\u201d <strong>continued the members.<\/strong> \u201cWe respectfully urge you to publicly support this legislation and work with Congress to advance it as part of a broader housing affordability agenda. She has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2025\/03\/03\/rosen-urges-trump-administration-to-take-action-to-prevent-higher-housing-prices-as-a-result-of-tariffs-on-canada-and-mexico\/\">leading<\/a> the fight against tariffs on construction materials from Canada and Mexico that are raising housing costs.
