The bipartisan <em>Auto Theft Prevention Act<\/em> would create a new federal grant program to provide funding to state and local law enforcement agencies to combat auto theft and stolen automobile trafficking. Grant funds could be used for equipment purchases, hiring and training officers and support staff, overtime and compensation costs, joint task forces, and data collection and research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cVehicle thefts are on the rise in Nevada, and we need to do everything we can to keep communities safe from crime,\u201d <strong>said Senator Rosen<\/strong>. \u201cI\u2019m proud to help introduce this bipartisan bill to give our police the resources they need to fight auto theft and stolen vehicle trafficking. I\u2019ll always fight to support Nevada\u2019s brave law enforcement officers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senator Rosen has worked to ensure law enforcement has the resources they need to do their jobs to keep communities safe from crime. In June, she sent a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/FY2026-Cops-Hiring-Program-Letter.pdf\">letter<\/a> urging the Senate subcommittee overseeing Department of Justice appropriations to provide robust funding for programs that support law enforcement. Senator Rosen helped pass the bipartisan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2023\/04\/27\/rosen-fights-to-get-law-enforcement-increased-resources-to-hire-and-retain-more-police-officers\/\"><em>Recruit and Retain Act<\/em><\/a> to support law enforcement agencies\u2019 efforts to hire and retain more police officers amid the ongoing police officer shortage in Nevada and nationwide.
