The announcement from CBP comes as a result of Senator <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2026\/02\/27\/rosen-calls-on-trump-administration-to-reopen-the-global-entry-program-maintain-tsa-precheck\/\">Rosen\u2019s letter<\/a> urging former-Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem to end the closure of the essential trusted traveler program. Closing the Global Entry program unnecessarily disrupted air travel and exacerbated stress on airports during the ongoing shutdown. The decision was further unjustified given the program does not predominantly rely on Congressionally-appropriated federal funding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe suspension of the Global Entry program was one of many misguided and terrible decisions made during Kristi Noem\u2019s disastrous tenure as Secretary of Homeland Security, which increased the burden on airports and made lines longer for passengers,&#8221; <strong>said Senator Rosen<\/strong>. \u201cI\u2019m proud to have pushed the Trump Administration to reinstate this program, and I\u2019ll keep fighting to ensure our airports are supported during this Republican shutdown.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Global Entry is a longstanding trusted traveler program designed to expedite screening and entry for pre-vetted, low risk travelers. The suspension of the Global Entry program increased congestion, lengthened wait times at airports and ports of entry, and imposed unnecessary burdens on travelers&nbsp; \u2013 which threatened visitation numbers to the U.S..<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a member of the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, Senator Rosen has been a leader in promoting and defending Nevada\u2019s travel and tourism industry and its workforce. This month, Senator Rosen joined a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2026\/03\/09\/senator-rosen-joins-culinary-union-to-discuss-impact-of-trump-slump-on-las-vegas-workers\/\">roundtable<\/a> with the Culinary Union to discuss the effects of Trump policies on tourism and hospitality in Nevada.
