WASHINGTON, D.C.<\/span><\/span><\/b> \u2013 Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) released the following statement announcing three grants from AmeriCorps awarded to the Great Basin Institute, the Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation, and the Nye Communities Coalition. These grants, which total $4,322,346, will put approximately 250 AmeriCorps members on the ground across the state.  <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI am thrilled that AmeriCorps recognizes the critical work that the Great Basin Institute, the Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation, and the Nye Communities Coalitions are doing, and that it provided them with the financial backing and manpower to reach even more Nevadans,\u201d dijo el Senador Rosen. <\/b>\u201cThese incredible organizations are on the ground tackling some of the most critical problems across Nevada, from workforce training and environmental stewardship to increasing academic engagement through science-based education and improving preventative medicine in rural communities.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Great Basin Institute: Great Basin Institute <\/span><\/span><\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Great Basin Institute proposes to have 183 AmeriCorps members (85 Half Time, 8 Reduced Half Time, and 90 Quarter Time) who will perform environmental stewardship, natural resource monitoring, evaluation, and public outreach, while engaging in workforce development throughout the state.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation: Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation (Nevada Volunteers) <\/span><\/span><\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation proposes to have 46 AmeriCorps members who will teach citizen science-based education programs using public lands as learning laboratories in Washoe County and Carson City. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Nye Communities Coalition: Partners of Prevention AmeriCorps Program <\/span><\/span><\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Nevada Statewide Coalition Partnership, in collaboration with Nye Communities Coalition, proposes to have 27 AmeriCorps members (4 FT and 23 PT) who will serve in the capacity of Community Health Workers and provide nutritional intervention\/diet modification coaching in rural areas specifically in Nye, Lincoln, Esmeralda, Lyon, Storey, Mineral and Clark Counties.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
