More than 50,000 fires burned 10 million acres with fires lasting well into the fall, destroying homes, businesses, and critical infrastructure. Guard members must have the appropriate training and equipment to fulfill their missions and this funding is critical to ensure they are properly prepared.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><b><u><span style=\"font-size:14.0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\">BACKGROUND:<\/span><\/span><\/u><\/b><span style=\"font-size:14.0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/rosen-leads-colleagues-calls-help-combat-wildfires-provide-data-climate-change-and-expand-land\/\"><span style=\"color:#0563c1\">Last week<\/span><\/a>, Senator Rosen announced that she and Senator Mike Crapo (R-ID) led a group of six of their Senate colleagues in a bipartisan letter to Senators Jeff Merkley (D-OR) and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Chairman and Ranking Member of the Senate Appropriations Committee\u2019s Subcommittee on Interior, Environment and Related Agencies, respectively, requesting strong support for wildfire suppression and forest management funding.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size:14.0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\">During a recent Senate Armed Services Committee hearing, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/during-armed-services-committee-hearing-rosen-secures-important-commitments-air-force-increased\/\"><span style=\"color:#0563c1\">Senator Rosen secured a commitment<\/span><\/a> from the Air Force\u2019s Acting Secretary John Roth and General Charles Q. Brown, Jr., Chief of Staff of the Air Force, to consider upgrading the Nevada Air National Guard\u2019s C-130H fleet with C-130Js.
