This bipartisan legislation \u2013 introduced by Senators John Boozman (R-AR) and Ron Wyden (D-OR) \u2013 would improve the health of women veterans by expanding Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) mammogram screening eligibility.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size:14.0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\">\u201cI\u2019m proud to support this bipartisan legislation to expand access to important, life-saving medical screenings for women veterans who have put their lives on the line while serving our nation,\u201d <b>dijo el Senador Rosen. <\/b>\u201cRequiring the VA to conduct mammograms for women who served in areas with a high risk of toxic exposure will provide much-needed preventative care, and I will always advocate for the health and well-being of our servicemembers.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"background:white\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><b><u><span style=\"font-size:14.0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:black\">BACKGROUND:<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/u><\/b><span style=\"font-size:14.0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:black\"> According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC2780333\/pdf\/nihms158630.pdf\"><span style=\"color:#0563c1\">report from the National Institutes of Health<\/span><\/a>, the incidence of breast cancer in women veterans and military populations is estimated to be up to 40% higher than the general population.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:11pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri,sans-serif\"><span style=\"font-size:14.0pt\"><span style=\"background:white\"><span style=\"font-family:&quot;Times New Roman&quot;,serif\"><span style=\"color:black\">los <em>SERVICE Act<\/em> would require the VA to conduct mammograms for all women who served in areas associated with burn pits and other toxic exposures regardless of age, symptoms, or family history.
