Circuit Court upheld in 2016. The legislation would effectively reinstate net neutrality rules, which the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) repealed in December 2017.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNevada\u2019s students, small businesses, and hardworking families all depend on a free and fair internet. The repeal of net neutrality rules threatens to hurt my constituents by forcing consumers to pay more to connect to slower internet speeds, stifling equal opportunity and economic innovation across our country,\u201d said Senator Rosen. \u201cThis resolution would overturn this Administration\u2019s harmful decision to end net neutrality by ensuring these protections are reinstated to guarantee a level-playing field online. I will continue fighting to restore these critical protections for Nevadans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><u><strong>BACKGROUND:<\/strong><\/u> Last Congress, Rosen signed a discharge petition to force a vote in the House to restore net neutrality protections, after Speaker Paul Ryan and House Republicans refused for months to debate restoring the net neutrality rules that the Trump Administration\u2019s FCC dismantled in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Last Congress, Rosen also introduced the bipartisan Restoring American Privacy Act of 2017 (H.R. 1868), which would reverse the Congressional resolution signed by President Trump allowing internet service providers to sell their customers\u2019 personal information without their knowledge or consent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-align-center\">###<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WASHINGTON, D.C. \u2013U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV), member of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, &amp; Transportation and Subcommittee on Communications, Technology, Innovation, and the Internet, joined Senator Ed Markey (D-MA) in co-sponsoring the Congressional Review Act (CRA) Resolution of Disapproval to restore the 2015 Open Internet Order, which the D.C.
