Instead of this misguided tax increase, the resolution calls for supporting a tax cut that will help working families and grow the middle class. The resolution is co-sponsored by Senators Bob Menendez (D-NJ), Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV), John Fetterman (D-PA), Patty Murray (D-WA), Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), Jack Reed (D-RI), Tim Kaine (D-VA), John Hickenlooper (D-CO), Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), Michael Bennet (D-CO), Sherrod Brown (D-OH), and Jeff Merkley (D-OR).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAt a time when hardworking families are experiencing high inflation and rising costs, Congressional Republicans are working to enact a tax plan that would dramatically raise the prices families pay for food, medicine, and all other goods and services,\u201d <strong>dijo el Senador Rosen.<\/strong> \u201cI urge the full Senate to join me in rejecting this new tax and, instead, work toward a tax cut for the middle class to give hardworking families more breathing room.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cA national sales tax is an awful idea &#8212; we don\u2019t have one in Montana, and we don\u2019t need the federal government imposing one on us,\u201d<strong> said Senator Tester. <\/strong>\u201cAt a time when working families are getting killed by inflation along with rising health care and housing costs, the last thing we need is to raise prices on everything from gas to groceries. The resolution also supports the passage of a responsible tax cut to benefit hardworking families and grow the middle class, while ensuring that the ultra-wealthy and billion-dollar corporations pay their fair share. The resolution also explicitly opposes paying for any tax cuts with cuts to Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid, or cuts to pay or benefits for servicemembers, veterans, or law enforcement.
