Wade<\/em> in federal law and restore the right to comprehensive reproductive health care for millions of Americans. Specifically, this bill creates federal rights to abortion care for patients and providers and protects against medically unnecessary restrictions that undermine Americans\u2019 access to health care and intrude upon personal decision-making.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAfter the Supreme Court took away women\u2019s rights to make decisions about their own bodies, Republicans in Washington introduced a nationwide abortion ban that would even restrict reproductive rights in my state of Nevada,\u201d <strong>said Senator Rosen<\/strong>. \u201cI\u2019ll always stand up for a woman\u2019s right to choose and fight back against attacks on reproductive freedoms. That\u2019s why I\u2019m helping introduce the Women\u2019s Health Protection Act to enshrine <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em> in federal law, protect reproductive rights, and eliminate medically-unnecessary restrictions that make it harder for women to access care.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI stand with the majority of Nevadans and Americans who are pro-choice, and I will never stop fighting to ensure women can make their own health care decisions,\u201d<strong> said Senator Cortez Masto. <\/strong>\u201cWomen\u2019s rights have come under attack since the fall of <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em>, and it is crucial that we act now to protect reproductive freedom for women across the country.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>los <em>Women\u2019s Health Protection Act\u2019s<\/em> introduction follows the Supreme Court\u2019s misguided decision in <em>Dobbs vs. Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization<\/em> which repealed <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em>. This decision has stripped access to abortion care for millions of Americans and denied individuals the freedom to make their own health care decisions. Since the <em>Dobbs<\/em> decision, 14 states have already implemented near-total abortion bans, leaving<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/nation\/2022\/08\/22\/more-trigger-bans-loom-1-3-women-lose-most-abortion-access-post-roe\/\"> one in three<\/a> American women without access to safe, legal abortion care. Additionally, state legislatures across the country have introduced<a href=\"https:\/\/www.americanprogress.org\/article\/state-abortion-legislation-2021\/\"> hundreds of bills<\/a> to restrict access to abortion care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A full list of co-sponsors and a copy of the bill text is available<a href=\"https:\/\/baldwin.senate.gov\/download\/whpa-of-2023-bill-text\"> <strong>HERE<\/strong><\/a> and a one-pager is available<a href=\"https:\/\/baldwin.senate.gov\/download\/whpa-of-2023-one-pager\"> <strong>HERE<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Senator Rosen and Senator Cortez Masto have been fierce advocates for women\u2019s reproductive rights. After the Supreme Court overturned <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em>, Senator Cortez Masto introduced the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cortezmasto.senate.gov\/news\/press-releases\/cortez-masto-whitehouse-murray-gillibrand-introduce-legislation-to-protect-the-right-of-women-to-cross-state-lines-to-seek-abortion-care\">Freedom to Travel for Health Care Act of 2022<\/a>, legislation co-sponsored by Senator Rosen that would ensure legal protections for women traveling across state lines to receive reproductive care. She has urged the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cortezmasto.senate.gov\/news\/press-releases\/cortez-masto-urges-ftc-to-protect-data-privacy-of-women-seeking-reproductive-health-care\">Federal Trade Commission (FTC)<\/a> to protect the data privacy of women seeking reproductive health care and along with Senator Rosen joined colleagues in introducing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cortezmasto.senate.gov\/news\/press-releases\/-as-reproductive-health-care-is-under-attack-cortez-masto-and-colleagues-introduce-affordable-over-the-counter-birth-control-legislation\">Affordability is Access Act<\/a>, which would make sure women across the country have access to affordable over-the-counter birth control. Last Congress, Senator Rosen helped introduce the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2022\/08\/02\/video-rosen-murray-lujan-padilla-introduce-legislation-to-protect-doctors-from-prosecution-in-anti-choice-states\/\">Let Doctors Provide Reproductive Health Care Act<\/a>, legislation co-sponsored by Senator Cortez Masto which ensures that providers in states where abortion remains legal are protected from any efforts to restrict their practice or create uncertainty about their legal liability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier today, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.duckworth.senate.gov\/imo\/media\/doc\/23.03.08%20-%20Senator%20Duckworth-Led%20Joint%20Letter%20to%20Walgreens%20Boots%20Alliance%20-%20Mifepristone.pdf\">Senator Rosen joined eleven colleagues in sending a letter to Walgreens CEO Rosalind Brewer<\/a> to express strong opposition to Walgreens\u2019 premature decision to publicly declare its intent to avoid dispensing FDA-approved abortion medication in certain states.
