Senator Rosen spoke on a range of issues and recent legislative actions she is taking in Washington, including increasing access to STEM education programs, calling for Congress to pass bipartisan comprehensive immigration reform, and defending the Affordable Care Act and it\u2019s coverage protections for individuals with pre-existing conditions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNevada\u2019s AAPI community is part of the diverse fabric that makes up our state,\u201d <strong>dijo el Senador Rosen.<\/strong> \u201cI\u2019m glad to have this chance to meet with members of the community and speak on the actions I\u2019m taking in Congress to address issues that affect everyday lives. I will continue working to build a dialogue with our state\u2019s many communities to best represent the needs of Nevadans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m pleased to see Senator Rosen taking action on the issues she spoke about in her maiden speech,\u201d <strong>said Vida Lin, President and Founder of Asian Community Development Council.<\/strong> \u201cEducation, health care, and immigration reform are all issues that have a real impact in the Asian Pacific Islander&#8217;s&nbsp;community. I look forward to working with Senator Rosen to find solutions to the challenges we face.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><u><strong>BACKGROUND:<\/strong><\/u> This week, Senator Rosen introduced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/rosen-introduces-bipartisan-bicameral-cyber-ready-workforce-act\/\">the Cyber Ready Workforce Act (S. 1466)<\/a>, legislation that would direct the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) to award grants to workforce intermediaries to support the creation, implementation, and expansion of registered apprenticeship programs in cybersecurity.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, Senator Rosen\u2019s bipartisan Building Blocks of STEM Act <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/node\/269\/\">passed the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee<\/a> and is poised to be considered on the Senate floor later this Congress. This legislation would create and expand upon STEM education initiatives at the National Science Foundation (NSF) for young children, including new research grants to increase the participation of girls in computer science.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, during Senator Rosen\u2019s maiden speech, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/node\/262\/\">she called for an immediate vote on her resolution<\/a> with Senator Manchin (D-WV) to allow the Senate counsel to intervene on behalf of the Affordable Care Act in the federal court case Texas v.
