That\u2019s why I will continue fighting to protect access to abortion medication and ensure reproductive rights are protected by federal law.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the district court ruling were left to stand and go into effect, the brief emphasizes that not only could patients in every state be denied access to a leading drug used in medication abortion, the most common form of abortion care, but the FDA\u2019s authority to determine the safety and efficacy of other drugs would be put at risk, threatening patients\u2019 access to all manner of other medications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The lawmakers conclude by asking the Supreme Court for emergency relief from the decision, writing: <\/strong>\u201cTherefore, emergency relief from the order is necessary to mitigate the imminent harm facing members of the public, many of whom rely on the availability of mifepristone for reproductive care\u2014and many more of whom rely on the integrity of FDA\u2019s drug approval process for continued access to life-improving and lifesaving drugs. Congress intended to\u2014and did\u2014vest authority in FDA to evaluate and ensure the safety and efficacy of drugs in the United States, and Amici call on this Court to give due weight to that intent.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The lawmakers\u2019 amicus brief to the Supreme Court can be read in full <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/SCOTUS-Amicus-Brief_Rosen_FINAL.pdf\">HERE<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the face of attacks, Senator Rosen has been a leader in fighting for women\u2019s reproductive rights. Last week, Senator Rosen signed onto an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2023\/04\/11\/rosen-joins-amicus-brief-urging-appeals-court-to-prevent-dangerous-ruling-threatening-access-to-mifepristone-from-taking-effect\/\">amicus brief<\/a> urging the Fifth Circuit to prevent the Texas district court ruling from taking effect. Senator Rosen recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2023\/04\/07\/rosen-statement-condemning-court-decision-restricting-access-to-abortion-pill\/\">condemned<\/a> the ruling by the Federal District Court in Texas that would effectively ban access to Mifepristone, as well as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2023\/04\/13\/rosen-denounces-latest-court-decision-restricting-access-to-medication-abortion\/\">U.S. Court of Appeals decision<\/a> that severely limits access to the abortion medication. Last month, Senator Rosen helped introduce the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rosen.senate.gov\/es\/2023\/03\/08\/rosen-cortez-masto-introduce-legislation-to-restore-and-protect-americans-right-to-an-abortion-nationwide\/\"><em>Women\u2019s Health Protection Act<\/em><\/a> to enshrine <em>Roe v.
