WASHINGTON, D.C.<\/strong> \u2013 Today U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV), a member of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP), and the Special Committee on Aging, released the following statement applauding news of a U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) grant totaling $601,576 awarded to the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) to fund research into Alzheimer\u2019s Disease.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a caregiver to my parents and in-laws, I\u2019ve witnessed the effect that Alzheimer’s has on patients, as well as their families,\u201d dijo el Senador Rosen.<\/strong> \u201cThis grant to UNLV will be used to fund critical research into brain function related to Alzheimer\u2019s. I will continue to fight in the Senate for proper funding and resources to manage, address, and one day cure this disease.\u201d<\/p>\n

BACKGROUND:<\/strong><\/u> Earlier this year, Rosen co-sponsored the bipartisan Improving HOPE (Health, Outcomes, Planning, and Education) for Alzheimer\u2019s Act<\/a>, legislation that would work to increase the utilization of care planning resources among Alzheimer\u2019s patients and caregivers.<\/p>\n

Last Congress, then-Congresswoman Rosen co-sponsored the BOLD Infrastructure for Alzheimer\u2019s Act, bipartisan legislation to provide funding to state and public health departments to implement effective interventions to promote early detection and diagnosis and reduce risk. The BOLD Infrastructure for Alzheimer\u2019s Act was signed into law this past December.<\/p>\n
